Episode 4: Question
Esmerelda and Hector walked down the street holding hands. They soon arrived at the bus station. She found her bags sitting on the floor near the ticket window. She went over to tget them but a guy juggling cheese wheels got in her way.
"Como estats bonita chica?"
"Get out of the way you oaf."
Esmeralda looked at Hector who had fire burning in his eyes. She could almost see steam coming out of his ears. Could he be feeling the same passion she felt? It was almost too much to hope for. Even though they had just met Esmeralda wanted to be with Hector in cheese filled bliss for the rest of her life.
"Sorry senor."
The guy left. Esmeralda smiled at Hector before she walked across the room to retrieve her luggage She checked her luggage to make sure nothing was missing. She'd been so excited to arrive in Queso de Munster that she forgot to get it once she stepped off the bus The envelope full of all the money she had in the world was still in the pocket of her suitcase.
"Let me escort you to the Raging Gouda."
Esmeralda smiled even though she had no idea what Hector was talking about but thought it might be a hotel. He was able to flag down a taxi. They got inside after a little girl came up to them with samples of cheesecake from the new bakery down the street called Queso Amor. They ate in silence as the taxi drove to the hotel. She made a mental note to check out that bakery soon since the cheesecake was to die for.
"Wow."
Esmeralda couldn't believe her eyes. The Raging Gouda was absolutely beautiful. It was the color of cheese. She had never seen marble or bricks that color before. She knew she was meant to be in this place. She'd always felt that something was missing from her life at home. Now she knew what she'd always suspected that cheese completed her. She stepped out of the taxi. Her luggage was placed on the sidewalk. She barely noticed the taxi pulling away from the curb since she was too busy staring in wonder at the Raging Gouda.
"Shall we go inside?"
Hector held out his arm to Esmeralda. She grabbed it.
"I can't afford a place like this Hector."
Hector just smiled.
"Come inside."
They stepped through the doors. Esmeralda felt like a kid in a candy store but instead of candy she was surrounded by cheese. At the counter there were cheese shaped phones. Even the sofa was shaped like cheese. It was a wonderland of cheese. As Esmeralda looked around her tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Don't cry. It hurts me to see tears staining such a beautiful face."
Esmeralda wasn't sure she could speak. She was so overcome with emotion. For the first time in her life she felt like she was truly home. She had never been this happy before in her entire life. Hector handed her a tissue. As she wiped away the tears from her eyes he got down on one knee.
"I know this is foolish. We only just met but I feel like you're the missing part of me that I've been waiting for. Oh Esmeralda would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Esmeralda started crying again but she was also smiling as she nodded. Hector stood up and swung her around the room.
"You have made me the happiest man in the world."
Hector put Esmeralda down and pulled her into a kiss. He was too captivated by Esmeralda that he didn't notice the woman in the pink dress glaring daggers at the happy couple.
"I will make you pay Hector. No one humiliates Juanita Consuela Teresa Anita Gonzalez and gets away with it."
