Of course this is another series. I really wish I'd get five bucks every time I stumbled into a series since it is very rare when I'll find a stand alone although I am ironically reading one right now. I did like this book so I'll be continuing on with the series and picking up other books by this author. If I'm not mistaken I think this is Victoria's first book. Well done. I felt like wearing a tiara while I was reading this. Just me?
I can only speak from my reading verse so I could totally be wrong but typically books that have a Queen and King are set in the past. This seems to be a more present setting since they have electricity and cameras. Weirdly even though I haven't read the book yet I'm thinking if you like this book you'll like Naughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman. This is a world of haves and have nots. The haves are the ones with all the power. On a random note I just found out that the title of this book by Malorie has two spellings.
In this world there are two types of people. Some people have red blood while others have silver blood. Oh crap that means I'm a red if I was suddenly transported into this world. Being red isn't really a good thing because you're screwed. When you turn eighteen you're stuck going off to war unless you have a job or apprentice lined up. Mare is about to face that herself when someone steps in and changes her life forever. Instead of going off to a war that has been going on for a century she gets a job at the palace. She has just arrived when something happens that turns her world upside down. I find the whole rating system to be a pain in the ass. It just seems too vague to me although I do kinda end up rating books on Goodreads since I've actually started using it. Until next time read on my friends read on. Since I love silver I think it would be cool to bleed silver instead of red.
