I couldn't resist when I got the email about this book because it mentioned Veronica Mars and it does have that vibe to it. Anna does have things in common with Veronica but with a scifi twist and a dash of Ghost Whisperer and iZombie minus the zombies. Anna is able to communicate with the dead and she's able to access memories a bit like Liv does when she eats brains. Anna gets the knowledge and can give control over to the dead person in her head.
Anna was abandoned at the age of three with a pretty horrible note pinned to her which lands her in the system. There she meets Deo who becomes family. A murdered dead girl gets Anna to help her out and major stuff starts going down. Anna finds out that she isn't the only one with abilities and of course there are the bad guys that want to capture like her. I really like the relationship between Anna and Deo and the Quinn family. If I could kick myself I would for not reading this author sooner. She was on my radar but I never got around to reading Timebound which I will be doing because I must read more books by this author. I want to know what happens next. It is times like this when I really wish I had a Tardis or a time machine so I could get the books I need early. Well I think the Tardis would be better because there's more room than the phone booth that Bill and Ted traveled in.
