I needed a break from another book I'm reading so I thought I'd dive into this book. Sadly I was disappointed by it and didn't bother to finish it. I stopped at 23% because I was bored. There's a kid who loses his head. He gets this strange stone and wackiness ensues but in a very dull sort of way.
I suppose it could appeal to a younger audience since I'm not the intended audience but I've enjoyed books that weren't technically written with me in mind as an audience. I could see the potential in it because I do like magic and the whole Narthex stone thing that allows you to travel from place to place is kinda cool but I was just bored and had no desire to find out if the story gets better.
