Yes I'll admit that the cover got my attention. This is a cool cover. I love the colors. The title is also attention getting. I did enjoy this book but I have to admit that I was a bit confused. I felt like I was missing something. Maybe it has something to do with my inability to process things that other people can without thinking.
Cyrene is this place for those who are twenty-one and younger. This is basically a place where you can party down all you like and get high. Yep all that stuff is legal and somehow it seems the energy from the crowds help power the grid. Yes I'm a bit confused about that part but I did like the story.
This is told from the perspective of two people. Vee is the singer for a group called Sugar Skulls and Micah is a guy that's on a mission to avenge something bad that happened. The two meet and sparks fly. I like the characters but it does get a little tedious reading books that have instalove. I guess I'm just not that trusting of people so if I was in Vee's place I wouldn't trust Micah right away like she did because their eyes met across the room.
This book does make me think of Dollhouse since they do deal with mind wipes and screwing with peoples heads. I'm not sure if this is a stand alone or part of a series. It feels like it should be a series because I feel like I'm missing something. This story takes place in a walled city. People are outside of the wall and there are the people inside. Even though there was some confusion on my part I did like the writing style of both authors and plan on checking out more written by them.
