This is the third in a trilogy and the first book I've read by this author. This is written in a way that seems to be popular that allows you to read books out of order. This is another series that focuses on certain characters during a book while also including characters that were seen in previous books.
This book focuses on Elizabeth King who is the youngest in the family. She has a secret that she doesn't want to get out and she wants to atone. She decides to pick up and move to San Francisco to help girls who have been rescued from being sex slaves.
Charles McKinley is a lawyer who wants to make the world a better place. Of course he butts heads with Elizabeth when he first meets her which can lead to a really great romance. I really like the writing style so I do plan on marathoning the three books at some point since I'm sure it will be a more enjoyable experience to read them in the order they were intended. If you're a fan of historical fiction this should be right up your alley.
