I suppose someone that hasn't seen the show could enjoy this book. I can't read minds so I can't really say one way or the other. The diary played a pretty decent role in the show although we didn't really get to see what it said so it is nice to have this diary so you can read about Laura and the freaky ass Bob. Bob still creeps me out. I need to start writing down my dreams since I might put out a book of them although I'm not sure if anyone would be interested.
I did have a nightmare about that guy. Come on look at him. That one scene where he's just walking into the living room and he slowly climbs over the couch you feel like he's going to come out of the TV. Even though Bob was obviously a part of the show this shows just how utterly twisted Bob is like anyone that's watched the show would realize immediately. I'd say he's one of the scariest characters I've encountered and he doesn't have that much in the way of dialogue. He does in the book but in the show not so much. The other version of the pilot that wasn't aired here but is included on the DVD did have him speaking and I think he does speak in Fire Walk With Me.
Reading this book does make me want to go and have a marathon of the two seasons and what the hell the movie too. This is a twisted tale of a girl that's living a double life. If you haven't seen the show you should totally check it out. If you happen to be a Xena fan you'll notice a familiar face. I'm not telling you who so you'll have to watch and see for yourself. I do believe this is also the first show that had bands perform on it. I think they beat 90210 by a hair although 90210 incorporated it into a regular part of the show more so than Twin Peaks did although you did show someone performing at the Roadhouse when scenes took place there.
Maybe it was the Twin Peaks fan in me but I picked up this book last night and started reading before I attempted to sleep. I ended up finishing it this morning when I woke up super early and didn't stop until I was done. It was a pretty quick read. It is disturbing but the kind of disturbing that makes you continue on even if a small part of you might not want to. I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all. I'm just getting creeped out by this picture of Bob staring at me. I feel like he's going to climb out of the TV and eat me. I dare you to look at this picture or look up this scene on YouTube and see if you aren't totally creeped out by it. Go on and do it.
