This was a really fast read for me. I started last night or afternoonish and kept reading until I was done. This would sort of qualify as a one sitting read although I can't actually read a book in one sitting because I assume that means I plant my booty down and stay put until I read the last page. So in other words I think the term addictive applies because it was very easy for me to get into this book and whiz on through it.
It starts off with a girl thinking about committing suicide who ultimately decides to become someone new. I'm sure many people can relate to Rebecca/Caden. Personally I think everyone should be allowed a free name change because some parents just aren't up to the task. Would you want to go through your life as Orange or Apple? I guess it is a bit easier if your parents or parent are celebrities but for us regular people a weird name can lead to sheer misery and sometimes a name just doesn't fit who we are. I wouldn't mind changing my name but it is such a pain. She decides to hitchhike which you shouldn't do but it is okay in fictional land because she's fictional and not real. A boy named Gabriel picks her up and invites her to his place. Again don't do that in reality. It isn't a good idea. Believe me I know of what I speak.
Anyhoo what follows is an interesting and odd story of two people who are trying to figure out their lives without pesky parents butting in. I don't really care for Laura as a mother since she totally sucks but in reality there are moms that totally suck. It is always great to see it because for a long time it seemed like the bad parent was always the dad and that just isn't always true. Sometimes they both suck. Sometimes the dad sucks and sometimes the mom sucks. It is a total suckfest. The relationship is very interesting and strange since something very odd happens at night to Gabriel. I somehow need to get my hands on the next book as soon as possible because it left me hanging and wanting more which shows that this author knows what she's doing.
