Got ARC from Net Galley.
I'm not off to a very good start. Once again I had to DNF a book. There seems to be a recurring theme with this one also taking place in a time that just seemed odd to me. This book takes place in modern times but when I think of Valkyries I think of the past. So it was a bit strange that this world is set in the present instead of the past.
I did like the writing. It was just the story that didn't work for me since it didn't really make sense. Maybe that's resolved if you keep reading the book but I decided I wouldn't do that. If I am not into a book I'm going to put it down since it is ridiculous to force yourself to read something.
In this world mortals and immortals live side by side. Valkyries train by going to school and getting a license to perform the job of killing immortals. See where I'm going with the confusion part? Malin is learning how to become a Valkyrie but it isn't easy because she's living under the shadow of her mother. It is possible that I might pick up this book sometime in the future but not now. I've had this author on my radar for a while so I'm disappointed that I didn't have a better reading experience.
