This was an interesting take on Reapers. Ollie is a tattoo artist that puts death marks on those intended for death. It might make you rethink asking for a skull. Since she isn't your typical scrivener she ends up getting into a bit of trouble when she tattoos a guy with a skull. That's the name of her job since she isn't an actual reaper.
She ends up getting sucked into a battle against Marin the guy in charge of everyone. He's a tyrant and there are rebels that want to knock him out of power but there's only one way to take out this guy. I really like Ollie. She seems like she'd be fun to hang out and I adored her dog Dudley. Also you gotta love a girl that names her gun Miss Piggy. If I had a gun and wanted to name it after a Muppet I think I'd go with Animal.
There was some romance in this book. I'm just glad it didn't overpower the book like it can in some books. Even if you aren't a romance fan you'd probably like this book if you're into all things paranormal. This was a easy read and I was able to get into it very easily. It was a smooth ride from start to finish but the same can't be said about the characters. I get the feeling that this is part of a series since the end in a way that more books could be forthcoming. I seem to have a knack for finding series or maybe my theory about stand alone books going extinct is true. Maybe someone should start putting together a commercial for them and while at it think about symbolically adopting me. I will keep an eye out for other books by Abigail.
