I'm not usually a fan of the color green but I have to admit that this cover is absolutely adorable. After reading this book I think I'll pick up a Sherlock Holmes book. Nope I've never read one although I've heard of him. This is a fun book that takes place in 1910.
There are girls getting murdered so Merinda has taken it upon herself to solve the crimes since the cops seem to be sitting on their butts. She isn't alone since she has her partner in crime Jem right by her side. I really enjoyed this book. It has friendship which is often missing from books. I would imagine it isn't easy to incorporate everything into a book and this seems to be the thing that often gets overlooked but not in this book since Merinda and Jem have a great friendship.
Since this is a time when young ladies are supposed to be married or looking for husbands these two ladies stand out because they are marching along to the beat of their own drums instead of doing what society wants them to do. So if you're looking for a fun book with a great friendship this is the book for you. Also there's mystery and perhaps a little romance along the way as you take a journey into this book which I believe is the start of a series. Since the weather is warmer this would make a great beach read if you happen to live near the beach. I don't which is why I always find it so strange when I see a wayward seagull.
