I was kindly sent a copy of this book.
I somewhat like historical fiction so I thought I'd give this one a try. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I found it easy to read but it is done at a slow pace but that isn't always a bad thing. This takes place during the civil war. I'm thinking I prefer certain time periods to others. I enjoyed it but I think this isn't my favorite time period if that makes any sense.
Peter Chandler is taking care of the bank his father ran until his death. His father's partner is very ill so he's doing his best but there's something sinister going on. At the same time he starts courting his incapacitated partner's daughter Mary Beth. I do like how they team up to figure out what's going on. This isn't for readers who prefer a faster pace but I did enjoy it.
I've always loved reading books so it was inevitable that I'd end up writing about books again. Over the years with the many blogs I have had I would end up talking about books. Thanks to a bit of frustration and a case of the writing blahs I decided to dive in again.
