In a small Texas town ruled by gossip, Fawn Blaylock believes others are justified in condemning her untimely pregnancy. Stifled by guilt, she yearns for grace while the local football coach treats her with gentle respect.
This is another book that has the number on the spine. I've come across a few series lately that does that which is fabulous. I read so many series that I think stand alones are going extinct. If someone put a bunch of names in a bowl of the series I read I could probably put the right books together under each series but aside from maybe the first book or two I would be pretty clueless about the order of the books. I do appreciate that.
I'm not surprised this is another series since that seems to be my super power. Sadly I didn't have time to pick up the first book in the series although I do plan on it. An added bonus is the sneak peek at the third book. When that comes out I plan on marathoning the three books. I do have to confess that when I saw this cover I thought western. It might just be me but the cover and the title just scream western even though the closest I've come to western would be watching Firefly and that one episode of Xena in season five. I do like the cover.
Even though this is the second book in the series I was able to pick up the book and get into it right away. It has a good flow to it. I didn't feel like I was walking into the middle of something that had already started. Fawn Blaylock is such a soapy rich girl name and so is Tyler Cruz. Fawn is pregnant and determined to make it on her own. Her parents have cut her off and her ex is a total jerk. I find Fawn easy to relate to. Another thing that I thought I'd point out that even though the characters in this book are Christian it isn't preachy. It is part of the story without being the main focus. It was done in such a way that I think anyone that likes a good story would enjoy it.
Varina Denman is a native Texan who spent her high school years in a small Texas town. Now she lives near Fort Worth with her husband and her five mostly-grown children.
