I really enjoyed this book. Now I see what all the fuss is about since I now have added another author to my must reads list although I don't technically have a list but I do have The Crane Wife waiting to be read. This is a story of the other people in a story. Instead of focusing on the chosen ones the regular kids are the main part of the story.
I couldn't help but think of Xander although when you think about it Xander was pretty awesome since he did manage to save the world by himself without any special powers. He was just a human. I really enjoy Patrick's writing and can't wait to read more by him. I can't believe I waited so long to pick up a book by this guy. I've been hearing about him pretty much since I started watching Booktube videos.
At the start of each chapter there's a little snippet of what's going on with the chosen ones. While wackiness abounds a group of friends are just going through their last year of high school. I really enjoyed the friendships between the characters. You don't really read about many friendships in books but this book had them. I wouldn't mind reading more about Jared, Mikey, Henna and the others. It was a really fun book and the book lover in me wants to have it come home to live with me. I think my books would welcome this with open pages.
