This is one of those authors I've been meaning to read and never got around to so when I saw this title I jumped at the chance to get it. Don't get me started on the whole oh crap where did that ebook go bruja that happened that ended up happening again when my Fire updated and changed things. If it disappears from my sight I won't think about it but I'm finally pleased to announce that I have now read a book by her and wish I had sooner.
This is a perfect example of me not judging a book by its cover because this is pretty eye roll worthy which might just be me. Go flex your man boobs elsewhere dude. I like what I can see behind the dude who must be Ryan on the cover who has part of his head cut off. At least the other cover has a demon on the cover which would make more sense. I think the demon from the one cover should replace the dude and his perky nipples but that's just me and no one asked me to consult on the book cover although I kind of wish someone would since that would be a cool gig.
The title and the description got my attention thankfully despite this awful cover. Nope if this book ever comes home to live with me I won't be proudly displaying it. Here's hoping the spine does't have him on it. Anyhoo this is a book about Francesca who goes by Chess or Chessie who happens to be a librarian. I really love her. Her eyes are opened to the world of demons when she sees one doing something pretty horrific. She makes a discovery at the library and before you know it she's out hunting demons. She is such a fun character so if you happen to be a fan of Buffy as I am I think you'll enjoy this book although she's kinda like a hybrid of Buffy and Giles because of the whole books thing. Step into Chessie's world that goes totally crazy and hello I so didn't see that coming. I also love the parts with Charlie who happens to be Chess's sister. I wish there was more of her in this book.
