This is another book where the title got my attention. If the title makes me wonder what the book is about I tend to pick it up. Just judging by the title it sounds like the story could be potentially tragic which it is since it starts with something pretty horrifying happening. It just grabs you from the first page and you keep turning the pages.
I believe I've heard of both of these authors but this is the first book I've read by either of them although I'm pretty sure I have another book by Tracie on my Kindle. Colton lives in a small town where he's under a cloud of suspicion. Even though he's been cleared of killing his wife people aren't welcoming and his son was so badly traumatized that he's afraid to speak because of the threat made from the real killer. Since he's a busy man he decides to hire a nanny Lillian.
Lillian comes from a different world. She decides to go to California and live out the dream her parents never got to do. She was very sheltered from life so she thinks it is time that she goes out on her own but her grandfather doesn't agree with her. I think some of us can relate to this character very easily. It isn't easy trying to figure things out that just come naturally to other people. The writing style is great and makes you want to keep reading. This is a historical novel but I'd also call it a thriller that is just full of events that bring on a major case of the feels. I look forward to checking out more books by both of these ladies.
