I'll just stay silent about the cover since it is the inside that counts and not the outside. Seriously I do want to become a book cover consultant since I think that is really needed to help make a better book cover and to make sure all series are numbered to avoid confusion or at least this reader's confusion. Anyhoo I jumped at the chance at getting this book although the jumping took a little longer when it came to reading it but that's a long story involving a Fire and massive confusion and dumbness on my part.
I've read books by Katie in the past so I knew I would enjoy it but at the same time I do realize that some people would likely pass on a book by her especially after reading one and starting a second because she does follow a certain recipe at least in the books I've read and that includes the ones about dragons and vampires. I also believe she's the first author where I read a steampunk book and actually knew it was steampunk. Gail Carriger was the first but I was totally clueless about it being steampunk since I'm the girl that just reads a book because I think it sounds good not for what genre it happens to fall into.
This is the second book in I'm thinking a spin off series since Aisling and other characters I've read about showed up in this book. It was good to see her and Jim. This one was about a charmer named Bee and Constantine. Like other books I've read in the past there's a wacky female character and her love interest that she doesn't really click with at first but stuff goes down and love blossoms. I get why someone might not like that the circumstances are always similar but I think Katie does such a great job at writing fun characters and unless I'm wrong which I'm pretty sure I'm not but since I have the brain of a goldfish I'm pretty comfortable in saying that I always end up laughing while reading a book by this author. They are always fun and quick reads which can be the ideal summer book for a person who loves to read. There's a curse that needs to be unbroken, a severed head named Gary that amuses me to no end, and a dragon that isn't quite a dragon in this latest installment. I flew through this book although the way I fly through a book isn't quite as fast as other readers when they fly through a book. I laughed. I rolled my eyes. I thanked the gods this author isn't like another one that shall remain nameless that drags on with the sex scenes. There are two in case you were wondering.
