I really like this cover. I think it is perfect for this book. Also as a bonus it doesn't have the guy and girl in some silly pose while he's flexing his perky nipples. This book takes place in New Orleans in the year 1902. There's a killer on the loose so Zeke comes to town when he's requested because of his special gift. Yes he sees dead people.
I did like this book but I wish there was more interactions with the ghosts. This is a paranormal historical romance but it was kinda light on the paranormal. It seemed odd that so many people in town were able to see ghosts and it wasn't even questioned. What are the odds of a guy finding a girl that can also see ghosts?
Zeke came to town because of the murders and ended up meeting Trula who happens to be a madam. The focus was more on hooking than the actual murders. Sure it was heartbreaking what happened to those girls but I would have liked to read a bit more about the murders. They just seemed to fade into the background and didn't really get the attention I felt they deserved. I was surprised by who the killer turned out to be because it was someone that I didn't even consider. It was shocking. I also liked that it wasn't all about the sexy scenes. Sure there were a few but they didn't overpower the book which does in some books. Overall I did enjoy this book and will check out more books by Julie.
