This is the second book in a series which probably explains why I was a bit confused while I was reading this. Sure you could read this first but I suggest you go back to the first book before reading this one. I was able to get into the book pretty easily and I think fans of J.R. Ward would like this book since it kinda has that same vibe to it. Oddly this is the third series that I've lately read that has angels in it. I did not plan that.
The Directorate is in charge of the angels in heaven. They have the Nephilim working for them. I couldn't help but think of Spike from Buffy during the time when he had a chip in his head. The Nephilim are bound which prevents them from fully using their powers. Kas is one of them and he gets the attention of the Renegades. They want to recruit him and send Mariel to him with an offer he can't refuse.
I really like Mariel. I find her very relatable. It is just horrible what happened to her. It just shows that you never know who you can trust. So if you're a fan of angels, kicking butt, with some romance thrown in this book should be right up your alley. Sure summer probably makes many readers want to break out the romance novels but we all aren't fans of ones without a little something extra. Well this book has the something extra and as a bonus there's a little eye candy on the cover. Enjoy the view readers.
