This sounded like a fun read. Maybe I'm not in the right mood for this book because I'm shaking off a migraine that is still clinging to me. This book is kinda like Harry Potter but instead of magic this school is to teach kids how to be thieves but it isn't as well done. I was amused at first but the way the adults speak just drives me nuts. They can be weird without constantly using the wrong words. I think it is possible that the thing that annoyed me the most might actually appeal to a younger audience.
George gets kidnapped and ends up at this weird school where everything is super strange. I read 28% of the book and put it down because I just knew that I wouldn't be able to finish it. The story just didn't connect with me and I didn't really like any of the characters which would have been fine if I wasn't annoyed with the way the adults spoke. I do like the author's writing. I just wish a few things were changed to make it more readable for me. I do admit that it is an interesting idea but it's like she's trying too hard to make it weird and for me at least it just doesn't work. Some books are meant for certain audiences and I'm not one of them but that's fine since there are more than enough books out there for each of us to enjoy so if you like this book enjoy it.
