I haven't been having the best reading month. A lot of my review books have ended in me not finishing them. I wasn't too thrilled about that crack that was made about asexuals in chapter one. It was shitty but I decided to be Elsa and let it go because it is a double edged sword. Yes you get points for putting the word out there but you get points taken away that land you in the negative column for doing it in a shitty manner implying that asexuals are all ugly and couldn't possibly be attractive.
I decided to continue on because this is a thriller and if I'm not mistaken a stand alone. I need more stand alone books in my life but I reach chapter 2 and the word asexual shows up again and this time it is about asexuals being cold and nope I'm not talking temperature. The only time I'm cold is when the weather is freakishly cold. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I want to continue reading this book. On the one hand it is a stand alone but on the other do I really want to read a book with the dread that something like this could happen a third time or a forth and so on and so on?
I decided to keep reading. I hate James. He is a horrible human being. For some reason I thought there was going to be a murder in this book. I knew who I was rooting for to turn out to be the murder victim. Instead it is a rape trial. I don't really like rape in my books but there are exceptions depending on the way it is used in the story. I'm not in the mood to read about a rape trial especially when I hate the one being accused of rape. Another thing I didn't care for was the DA or whatever the UK version is called was talking to her friend about the trial. When the friend heard who it was about she said she wouldn't kick this Tory out of bed. I don't know what that means because I don't speak fluent British. Come on admit it you know that sometimes it can seem like two languages because they use words we don't and sometimes a word we use might have another meaning here. She couldn't believe this utter scumbag could be guilty because he's good looking. I read seven chapters and I was going to read chapter eight to see how things unfolded but I've decided against it because this story just isn't for me. It would have worked better for me if it was a murder instead of a rape.
